Portugal’s Marcos Freitas won the third round of the Men’s Singles event at the LIEBHERR World Championships in Paris on Friday 17th May 2013. He beat Kazuhiro Chan in five games to book his place in the fourth round of the Men’s Singles event. With this performance Marcos is the first Portuguese player to reach this level in a World Championships. Men’s Singles – Round of 32 Kazuhiro Vs. Freitas – 1:4 (11-5, 9-11, 7-11, 6-11, 5-11) In good form, the Portuguese reached the round of 16 and will face tomorrow Saturday 18th May at 7:45 PM (local time), the best table tennis player in the world. Portugal’s Marcos Freitas won the second round of the Men’s Singles event at the LIEBHERR World Championships in Paris on Thursday 16th May 2013. He beat Sin Hyok in a seven games duel to book his place in the third round of the Men’s Singles event. He was losing by 0:3 but impressively Marcos won the last four games thanks to his talent and fighting spirit. He operated an impressive overturn always supported by the audience at the Palais Omnisport of Paris and through the supporters who followed the game on the internet. Portugal’s Marcos Freitas won the first round of the Men’s Singles event at the LIEBHERR World Championships in Paris on Wednesday 15th May 2013. He beat Singapore’s Yang Zi by 3:4 to book his place in the second round of the Men’s Singles event. Men’s Singles event – Round of 128 Yang Zi Vs. Freitas – 3:4 (11-3, 7-11, 5-11, 9-11, 11-8, 14-12, 6-11) Tomorrow Thursday 16th May at 9:15 pm (local time), the Portuguese will face North Korea’s Sin Hyok. Portugal will compete with seven players (four males and three females) in the LIEBHERR 2013 World Table Tennis Championships, from 13 May to 20 May, in Paris. The Olympic Marcos Freitas (no. 23), Tiago Apolónia (no. 44) and João Monteiro (no. 62), went directly to the Main Draw. Marcos Freitas will dispute the Men’s Singles competition and will start his performance on Wednesday 15th May and like his colleagues do not know yet the opponent he will face. AS Pontoise will face Hennebont tomorrow 9th April at 19:30 (local time), at the meeting of the 15th journey at the French League. The Portuguese Marcos Freitas is already in Hennebont (France) along with his teammates, Peter Franz, Jian Wang and Jacub Kosowski. Portugal’s Marcos Freitas sponsored by the German brand TIBHAR and a player at AS Pontoise-Cergy in the French League, falls one place on the Men’s World Rankings issued by the International Table Tennis Federation on Thursday 4th April 2013. He falls from no.22 to no.23. In the European Ranking he maintains the no.6 as well as the leadership in Portugal’s ranking.
