Borussia Düsseldorf is the Men’s Champion of the German 1st Division 2008/2009. Marcos Freitas and his team, Borussia Düsseldorf, won today (Sunday) the Title. They beat TTC Liebherr Ochsenhausen with 3:2, in the Burg-Wächter Castello, Germany. 2400 spectators attended to the Final and last game of the 2008/2009 season which lasted two hours and 45 minutes. The world’s table tennis ace Timo Boll, won easily his two matches in three straight games. He overcome the Portuguese Tiago Apolónia by 11-6, 11-6, 11-8, and Sweden’s Pär Gerell by the margins of 11-9, 11-6, 11-5. Marcos Freitas and Dimitrij Ovtcharov lost their confrontations in four games, against Romania’s Adrian Crisan (ranked no. 32) and Pär Gerell (no. 67) by 9-11, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11 and 9-11, 11-7, 7-11 5-11, respectively. In the doubles game and also their last performance with Borussia Düsseldorf, Portugal’s Marcos Freitas and Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov defeated the pair Tiago Apolónia / Adrian Crisan with 3-2, with the margins of 8-11, 11-7, 11-13, 11-8, 11-4. The two players are leaving Borussia Düsseldorf, since Marcos Freitas moves to TTC Jülich (Germany) and Dimitrij Ovtcharov will play for La Villette Charleroi, Belgium.
