HENNEBONT MAKE THEIR WAY AND STOP BORUSSIA
Friday, 14 November 2008
Tonight's most surprising result gave a little shock to Men's ECL despite Borussia Düsseldorf defeat will have no consequences: on the other hand just Hennebont, the team overcoming the Germans with a sharp 3:0 will enjoy the fruits of such beautiful night and probably have their place in the quarter-finals, maybe the sole French one. The Portuguese Marcos Freitas did not play this game but was supporting his colleagues. How to explain such Borussia weak performance? Nor Timo Boll or Dimitrij Ovtcharov, both coming from Liebherr Super Cup in Moscow, had the right concentration, but also Christian Süß (nominated number 1) disappointed German fans in the opening match won by Ryu Seung Min smoothly in straight games (11:4, 16:14, 13:11). Kalinikos Kreanga gifted a real show against Timo Boll: the match remained well-balanced during the first two sets, then the Greek took the control in a hard fighted third set he got 12:10 and finally dominate the fourth. He won 11:8, 8:11, 12:10, 11:6. Wang Xin didn't miss the opportunity to undersign such an important result despite Dimitrij Ovtcharov leaded the match a long time winning the first two sets: the German probably felt to have the match in his hands, and Wang was set on doing him a dirty trick. Dima lost to Wang in a five games hard duel with the margins of 9:11, 14:16, 13:11, 11:8, 13:11. The Men’s ECL fifth Round will be played on 12 December at 7:30pm against Denmark’s Roskilde Bordtennis Btk 61.

WAGNER:"BORUSSIA WANTS THE FIRST PLACE"
Thursday, 13 November 2008
The German top club, Borussia Düsseldorf is leading the group A, as they have three important victories before the fourth round. Their most difficult game is going to be tomorrow Friday in France, as Hennebont is always able to make surprises in Champions League. If the French team can revenge to Düsseldorf (3-1 for Borussia in Round 1) then they could be the winner at the end of the group stage. The coach of Borussia Düsseldorf, Dirk Wagner said: ”we want to win and concentrate on Hennebont, as the French team is a very dangerous opponent. We remember the first round, if our player, Freitas hadn't won his match it could have been a very exciting game aganist them in Düsseldorf. Timo Boll plays very very good table tennis at present. Both players (Boll and Ovtcharov) were successful enough at Liebherr Super Cup in Moscow. They have self-assurance and therefore they are able to defeat the tiredness easily. Christian Süß is training here in Düsseldorf and he becomes better and better again. Marcos Freitas, our Portuguese sportsman missed the last match, however he's on a good way to come back. Our first three players are in good moods and I think we were able to do our best so far. Now it's valid to defend the first group place against Hennebont. In my opinion Borussia and Hennebont will step to the quarter final after the group stage".
